The Celebes Molasse: A revised Neogene stratigraphy for Sulawesi, Indonesia

چکیده
Over the past century, a wide variety of poorly dated sediments that unconformably overlie pre-Neogene rocks in Sulawesi have been assigned to Celebes Molasse and interpreted as post-orogenic deposited after major collision. New data from fieldwork laboratory studies, including mineralogical, palaeontological zircon geochronological analyses, provide basis for new Neogene stratigraphy show significant variations age, environment deposition, composition sedimentation history. Identified unconformities (1) Early Miocene (c. 23 Ma), (2) Middle 15 (3) Mio-Pliocene 6–5.3 (4 5) Pleistocene 1.8 0.1 Ma) separate Lower Miocene, Upper Pliocene, Holocene mega-sequences. These mega-sequences resulted collision followed by extension, driven subduction rollback, causing both uplift subsidence, contrast previous interpretations multiple collisions.

Karyotypes of four rats (Rodentia: Muridae) from Sulawesi (Celebes), Indonesia.
Karyotypes and information pertinent to genetic mapping of small mammals in remote areas of Southeast Asia are practically nonexistent. The diverse island complex of the Indo-Australian archipelago offers a unique situation to study the interrelationships of the taxonomically confused order Rodentia. Yosida (1969, 1971, 1973) reported karyotypes of two species of rodents from Makassar, located ...
متن کاملMalaria in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
The incidence and impact of malaria in North Sulawesi have declined both in the short term during the 1990s, and over a much longer timespan (though perhaps less continuously) since the end of the colonial period. The improvement already seems to have been well underway before deliberate vector control activities became extensive in the second half of the 1970s, and environmental changes affect...
متن کاملA New Species of Muscicapa Flycatcher from Sulawesi, Indonesia
The Indonesian island of Sulawesi, a globally important hotspot of avian endemism, has been relatively poorly studied ornithologically, to the extent that several new bird species from the region have been described to science only recently, and others have been observed and photographed, but never before collected or named to science. One of these is a new species of Muscicapa flycatcher that ...
متن کاملFive new species of Syzygium (Myrtaceae) from Sulawesi, Indonesia
Following ongoing ecological research on the tree diversity of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, we describe five new species of Syzygium. These are the first descriptions of Syzygium species from the island since Blume (1850, Jambosa celebica and J. cornifolia), highlighting the significant lack of taxonomic research on the genus for the region. The five species proposed as new are Syzygium b...

Gryphopsylla maxomydis n. sp. (Pygiopsyllidae), Medwayella rubrisciurae n. sp. (Pygiopsyllidae) and Macrostylophora theresae n. sp. (Ceratophyllidae) are described from endemic rodents in Sulawesi. Gryphopsylla maxomydis was collected from the murids Maxomys musschenbroekii and Paruromys dominator in Central Sulawesi (Sulawesi Tengah). However, M. musschenbroekii appears to be the true host of ...
